A Stand For My Benchtop Jointer / Un support pour ma dégauchisseuse d’établi

I purchased this small jointer on August 20th, box that I just opened, and up to now I was wondering how and where I would set it.

It will sit on this sawhorse that I built more than ten years ago (2005), one among many others (take a look at their versatility).

Taking into account the foam on the bottom of the box, I think the height is just right.

For mobility I will add those casters, but I must also add the shown scrap, to be fastened under the lower shelf.

After a second thought, if I cut the ends A to the same level as the rail B, I won’t have such scraps to add.

I set the rip fence, but this cut is at risk because the waste could be trapped and ejected towards the front of the saw.

For good measure, I clamped a cleat (arrow) and this latter will slide along the side of the saw, therefore guiding the sawhorse throughout out the cut. The circle shows that I’ve moved the rip fence away.

The casters are installed. Did you notice they aren’t lockable ?

In their shown positions, two of them, installed to the infeed end of the jointer, will pivot and therefore lock the whole assembly. To move it, I will have to push and steer the assembly from the fix caster end. Great isn’t it ?

I complete the installation by drilling and fixing the tool onto the stand.

Two small cylindrical magnets gathers the tool keys.

It’s very quick when half of the work has already been done.

By the way, the stand is 1/4″ (6mm) longer than the bed of the jointer. That is luck !

Wait to see how I will manage and exploit the lower space !

    Salut,
    A+

    Où avez-vous acheté cette dégauchisseuse?

I have no idea how it happened, but you showed up in my spam file. I thought you’d stopped transmitting genius … for some reason I couldn’t bring myself to think about. How do your subscribers know if you stop for some reason? Do you have someone on stand by to tell us you’ve thrown up your hands (or for some other reason) stopped your blog?

I often wondered how my doctor would know I was no longer, ever, going to make my appointments.

You’re back in my IN BOX, much to my delight. Missed you.

      Larry,
To prevent emails from getting into the spam folder, as far as I know you only have to add sender email addresses in your contacts, or your approved senders list.
I never wondered about my doctor in this manner, and the same would apply to my blog – No one will tell him, neither my readers.
But for now I’m not planning to stop blogging. Let’s say that if you don’t hear form me after a month or so, that will be it : Gone, bored, dead, or no more hands/arms as you mentioned. Ha-ha !!
      Best,
      Serge

I would want to know if you are off to the great beyond. Maybe consider appointing someone to tell us if that has happened. My brother just went in for triple bypass surgery. Made me think about such things. Consider leaving something about notifying us in your will? Sorry to bring up such things, but when we start thinking about you as family, we start thinking we’d miss you.

I’m ready for the big (fatal) journey. I keep in mind that I only have ten more years on earth (I don’t want more than that). Then I’ll be in the Cloud, reading texts and looking at pictures every ones send into. Ha-ha !
If you rely on emails sent by WordPress to notify you when I add a my post, then all of a sudden you will realize what happen to me.
          Best,
          Serge
