It is common to add a sacrificial or an auxiliary fence to the table saw rip fence, as shown.
Toutefois, les serre-joints nuisent quelques fois à faire certaines coupes.
However, sometimes clamps interfere when making particular cuts.
Pour remplacer les serre-joints habituels, je me suis procuré cette bride en U de diamètre 5/16″ par 5″ de long (1.99$).
To replace the usual clamps, I acquired this 5/16″- diameter by 5″-long U-shape bracket ($1.99).
After cutting the bracket in half with a hacksaw, I remove any burrs at the sanding belt.
To ensure that the auxiliary fence will completely lean flat against the rip fence, I bend down the angle to about 88-89°.
I cut two small scraps to the same width as the rip fence and two others combining the thickness of the previous one and the rip fence height.
A hole is drilled on each upright flush to the rip fence. Take note that I had to cut my upright lower ends to lean the bolts against the rip fence.
A groove is made in the rails for the bolt to pass by.
I glue and nail the pieces, as shown.
I immediately remove any excess glue so it won’t interfere with the bolt.
While the glue dries, I drill each end of the auxiliary fence to feed the bracket in.
I manufacture two knobs using MDF scraps and T-nuts.
Wing-nuts (circled) would also do the job.
Here is my completed auxiliary fence. Take note that I’ll be able to screw on it (or bolt) any other model for specific needs, as example, a high fence to cut raised panels.
Finally, a hole to hang it.
Those new brackets should be handy on other stationary tools as well.

Thank you, Bill. It’s very comforting to get such comments.
Best,
Great useful clamping tool. Thanks for sharing.
I’m glad you like it, Ken.
Thank you for following me in my woodworking journey and for having stopped by to leaving a comment.
Best,
This clamp has many possibilities. I can also see it as a movable stop block for a crosscut sled fence.
You’re right, Jim. The limit is the imagination – and yours looks to be switched ON. 🙂
Best,
Here is an improvement for the use as a clamp.
Splitting the short leg of the L in the shape of a Y you can have a sort of “dual head” clamp, useful for corners etc. or just to place the clamp jaw around a bolt or screw.
I’ve made some of them and they are pretty useful.
Great site, I learned a lot!
That is a good idea. Thank you Marco. I hope you will register to receive an automatic email each time I add a new post ! (upper right column)
