Free Hand Angle Drilling Jig / Gabarit pour percer en angle à main levée

Pour mon gabarit j’utilise cette chute d’un colombage 2″X4″ d’environ 4″ de long.

For my jig I’m using this approximate 4″ long 2″X4″ stud scrap.

À la perceuse à colonne je perce un trou de 3/8″. Nul besoin de défoncer. Pourquoi 3/8″ ? Parce que je pourrai utiliser le gabarit avec des forets plus minces sans toutefois compromettre l’angle énormément et/ou je pourrai agrandir le trou du projet avec un forêt plus gros.

At the drill press I drill a 3/8″ hole. No need to drill through. Why 3/8″ ? Because I’ll be able to use the jig with smaller drill bits without much compromising the angle and/or I’ll be able to enlarge the project hole with a larger drill bit.

J’utilise un bâtonnet pour trouver et indiquer l’emplacement du fond du trou.

I’m using a stick to find and mark the location of the bottom of the hole.

Je règle le guide à onglets de mon banc de scie à 15°, selon mon besoin pour un projet extérieur au jardin, et je glisse mon guide maison près de la ligne de coupe.

I set the table saw miter gauge at 15°, according to my needs for a garden project, and I slide my homemade fence close to the cut line.

Compte tenu de la petitesse de la pièce, je l’assujetti avec un serre-joint. Pourquoi prendre le risque ! Je m’assure de couper où est le trou.

Because of the smallness of the piece, I secure it with a clamp. Why take the risk ! I make sure I cut where the hole is.

Un angle de 15° à tout coup !

A 15° angle each time !

Et de l’autre extrémité, un angle de 90° a tout coup !

And from the other end, a 90° angle each time !

Mais où percer ? Vous pouvez mirer à l’œil ou encore poinçonner l’endroit exact pour le sentir avec la pointe du foret. Mais il y a mieux. Tracez ces lignes perpendiculaires à chaque extrémité.

But where to drill ? You can eye ball or make a dimple at the exact location and feel it with the drill bit tip. But there’s a better way. Draw these perpendicular lines at each end.

Transférez toutes ces lignes sur les quatre côtés.

Transfer all those lines on the four sides.

Tracez des lignes perpendiculaires à l’endroit où percer et alignez le gabarit sur ces quatre lignes pour le centrer parfaitement.

Draw perpendicular lines where to drill and align the jig on those four lines to perfectly center it.

Note: Tel que suggéré par Chris, utilisez du bois franc si vous désirez un gabarit à longue durée.
