Basé sur le fait que je n’utilise pas les tambours (flèche) de cette ponceuse d’établi mais uniquement la bande abrasive supérieure, j’ai été inspiré par des produits que j’ai vus sur le web.
Based on the fact that I don’t use the drums (arrow) of this benchtop sander but only the upper sanding belt, I was inspired by products I saw on the web.
Sur le site web Amazon j’ai vu cette ponceuse à tambour avec poignée, alimentée par un outil rotatif à air.
On the Amazon web site I saw this sanding drum with a handle, powered by an air rotary tool.
J’ai aussi vu celle-ci, mais alimentée par une perceuse sans fil, ensemble que j’ai spontanément anticipé ou considéré plus pesant, tout de même très pratique pour des pièces qui sont trop grosses pour être apportées sur la ponceuse d’établi.
I also saw this one, but powered by a cordless drill, assembly that I spontaneously anticipated or considered heavier, but also quite handy for pieces too big to be brought onto the benchtop sander.
J’utiliserai les tambours plus gros que cette rondelle.
I will use drums larger than this washer.
Ayant en main un de mes cylindres de caoutchouc, j’ai parcouru les allées de ma quincaillerie pour essayer et sélectionner les pièces requises – un tuyau de plomberie de cuivre, un tuyau de polyvinyle (Pex) qui peut glisser sur le précédent en cuivre, un long boulon du même diamètre que le tunnel de mes tambours pour l’essieu, un écrou de jonction pour la tige filetée que j’avais déjà.
Having on hand one of my rubber cylinders, I walked my local hardware store aisles to try and select the required pieces – a copper plumbing pipe, a polyvinyl pipe (Pex) that slips on the previous copper one, a long bolt the same diameter as in inner tunnel of my sanding drums for the axel, a coupling nut for the threaded rod I already had.
Le tambour placé au début des filets du boulon (flèche), je détermine où couper le tuyau de cuivre (cercle).
The drum placed at the beginning of the bolt threads (arrow), I determine where to cut the copper pipe(circle).
J’utilise mon nouvel outil de coupe maison pour couper le tuyau.
I’m using my new homemade cutting tool to cut the pipe.
J’enlève le morfil extérieur à ma meuleuse à bande et l’intérieur avec ce pratique outil dédié (jaune).
I remove the outside burrs at my belt grinder and the interior with this handy dedicated tool (yellow).
Maintenant je dois couper le tuyau de polyvinyle un peu plus court que le cuivre, une occasion d’essayer mon nouveau couteau (rouge).
Now I must cut the polyvinyl pipe a bit shorter than the copper, an opportunity to try my new cutter (red).
Ici j’adouci la tête du boulon avec une bande abrasive à grains très fins car l’extérieur de la paume de ma main pourrait entrer en contact avec lorsque le boulon tourne.
Here I’m smoothing the head of the bolt using a very fine grit abrasive belt because the outside of the palm of my hand may get in contact with it while the bolt spins.
Avant d’enfiler le polyvinyle sur le cuivre, j’étends de la graisse blanche. Après le polyvinyle, j’enfile une rondelle, le tambour, une autre rondelle et l’écrou.
Before slipping the polyvinyl over the copper, I spread white grease. After the polyvinyl, I slip a washer, the drum, another washer and the nut.
En serrant le boulon, le tambour de caoutchouc est compressé et le manchon de ponçage est ainsi assujetti sur celui-ci.
By tightening the nut, the rubber drum is compressed and the sanding sleeve is secured onto it.
Le tout inséré dans le mandrin de la perceuse sans fil, je tiens la poignée de polyvinyle avec ma main droite (celle qui tient la caméra) pour guider et poncer, tel que montré.
The whole thing inserted in the cordless drill chuck, I hold the polyvinyl handle with my right hand (the one holding the camera) to steer and sand, as shown.
Maintenant je vais produire un adaptateur pour mon outil rotatif à air (pensez meuleuse rotative à air). J’y tiens parce ce dernier sera beaucoup moins pesant.
Now I will manufacture an adaptor for my air rotary tool (think air rotary grinder). I want it because this latter will be much lighter in weight.
Une fois encore, j’enlève le morfil à la meuleuse à bande.
Once again, I remove the burrs at the belt grinder.
Je dois maintenant machiner la tige pour qu’elle s’insère dans le mandrin de l’outil.
Now I must machine the rod so it will fit into the tool chuck.
La tige filetée montée dans le mandrin de la perceuse à colonne, je vais réduire son diamètre uniformément avec une meuleuse portative (montrée) pendant que la perceuse à colonne tourne la tige.
The threaded rod mounted in the drill press chuck, I will uniformly reduce its diameter with an angle grinder (shown) while the drill press spins the rod.
Je dois la réduire jusqu’à ce diamètre (1/4″ – 6mm).
I must reduce it down to this (1/4″ – 6mm) diameter.
Toujours pour l’uniformité, j’utilise une lime vers la fin du processus.
Still because of uniformity, I’m using a file close to the end of the process.
En répétant les essais, la tige s’insère enfin dans le mandrin de mon outil à air, ce qui a prit environ 10 minutes. Réaliser ses propres outils est très satisfaisant !
Keeping testing the fit, at last the rod slips into my air tool chuck, what took about 10 minutes. Making your own tools is very satisfactory !
Voici mon adaptateur terminé, et ensuite bien serré dans la mandrin.
Here is my completed adaptor, and then tighten into the chuck.
Beaucoup plus légère, cette nouvelle ponceuse fait le même travail que la perceuse sans fil.
Much lighter, this new sander does the same job as the cordless drill.
Je peux aussi utilisé l’adaptateur dans une perceuse ayant un plus petit mandrin.
I can also use the adaptor in a smaller drill chuck.
Après chaque utilisation il faut relâcher l’écrou pour ne pas déformer la caoutchouc.
After each use you must loosen the nut so the rubber won’t get deformed.
