Another step to fill my hand tool cabinets.

I’m using a guide clamp as a fence to align for drilling the holes that will receive my small pliers.

A countersink is more pleasant to the eye, eliminates tearouts and will ease insertion.

I’m sanding the display face and the sides as well as rounding over all edges at my stationary belt sander.

No permanent anchors, I rather keeping it mobile.

Here I’m using my light duty drill press vise to secure the brackets I’m milling for my hand saws from mahogany slabs.

My homemade crosscut sled allows me to cut such small pieces safely.

Still on my crosscut sled, the stop A is set according to the available thickness space in the door (1-1/4″ – 32 mm) where the brackets will be installed. Here my homemade hold-down B is indispensable, and it must be used on the stop side.

A precise and calculated task.

After countersinking according to the length of my screws, now I’m pre-drilling for the screw shanks to prevent wood splitting.

Un travail très satisfaisant !

A very satisfying job !

Take note that I’ve cut a groove in the two horizontal supports to accept the saw blades end. The lower support is close to the edge while the upper one is at the back for the long saws to pass by.

    salut cousin,

Serge, as usual a well thought out job done well. Your plier holder is a much better idea than my drawer which makes it difficult to find what I’m looking for. Now you have me thinking about where I can find a spot to put a plier stand, at least for the small ones.

    Thanks
    Mark

    • Thank you Mark. From now I still have to find a good method to store my larger pliers.

Here’s an idea for you. You may want to try my former pliers storage.

Thank you Serge. I think your former holder will work for me. I have the same screwdriver holder with 2 rows of screwdrivers but I think there might be enough space to drill holes at the front for small pliers.

Once again it pays to follow your posts!

I like the saw holder arrangement very much, but is there enough room at the plier holder to pick the pair you want without hitting the others?
I find the hanging arrangement I made for my pliers which is about a similar width too narrow to remove the pair I want without knocking the others about.
Your attention to detail makes your projects very nice Serge

    • Thank you Eric for your kind words. You’re right, I do like to put my attention on details to get the results I want. What worth to be done worth to be well done !

To calculate the spacing I used a scrap and drilled few holes to find out 3/4″ on centers was good for me. Note that I don’t have fat fingers. If one would like to leave a 1″ gap between each pair, for a 18 pliers rack like mime it would be 4-1/2″ longer, what is not too bad. I when back to the picture of your pliers holder and fortunately you can push them away when needed. I thought about using such method but I found the handles were too spread apart.

As I already mentioned, now I have to find a way to store my larger pliers, the bigger being about 18″ long.

      Best,

I really like this, just lift the tool 1/2″ and it’s out of there,
    and looks great too.
