Workbench Protection Shield / Bouclier de protection d’établi

J’ai construit mon établi en octobre 2003 et le dessus est encore impeccable. Et à cela il y a une raison.

I built my workbench in October 2003 and the top is still impeccable. And there is a reason for that.

Peu après sa construction j’ai ajouté un bouclier afin de le protéger des abus du bricolage.

Soon after the construction I added a shield to protect it from any woodworking abuse.

Pour commodité, je l’ai coupé en deux il y a environ deux ans afin d’avoir facilement accès aux trous pour les butées d’établi.

For convenience, I cut in half about two years ago for easy access to the bench dog holes.

Le bouclier est fait d’un panneau de fibre durci de 1/4″ d’épaisseur et dépasse 1″ sur tout le périmètre. Les tasseaux ont été coupés aux endroits stratégiques.

The shield is made out of 1/4″ hardboard and spans 1″ all around the perimeter. Wood strips have been cut at strategic locations.
