Carpenter’s Tool Box & Bench #7 Boîte à outils & banc de menuisier

Je pensais mon banc de menuisier terminé, sauf l’application de la gomme laque, mais j’ai décidé d’y ajouter une barre stabilisatrice suite au témoignage reçu d’un menuisier qui est tombé du sien en l’utilisant comme marche pied.

I thought my carpenter’s bench was completed, excluding the shellac finish, but I decided to add a stabilizing crossbar after a testimony from a carpenter who felt from his own when used as a step stool.

J’ai collé et vissé la chute d’une découpe d’un pied sur une languette de contreplaqué de 3/4’’ d’épaisseur. Ensuite j’ai percé des trous à travers la languette et le côté du banc pour insérer les vis à molettes improvisées montrées. Des écrous à griffes sont installés par derrière les pattes.

I glued and screwed a cutoff from the shape of the legs on a strip of 3/4’’-thick plywood. Then I drilled through holes in the strip and the side of the bench to thread the shown improvised thumbscrews. T-nuts are installed from the back of the legs.

La languette stabilisatrice est coupée de façon à ce qu’elle puisse être insérée et rangée en tout temps dans la boîte à outils sous le banc pour être toujours disponible. Elle s’installe en un instant et peu prévenir de fâcheux accidents.

À bien y penser, je vais arrondir et poncer le coin supérieur des extrémités.

The stablelizing crossbar is cut so it will fit and be permanently stored in the tool box compartment under the bench to be always readily available. It gets installed in no time and can prevents from bad accidents.

After a second thought, I will roundover and sand the upper corner of the ends.
