Avant de fixer les pattes au-dessous du plateau, je veux installer un aimant de 1/2’’ de diamètre sur chacun des pieds. Je pourrais utiliser la colle époxy, mais j’aime mieux utiliser une coupe, laquelle est réversible.

Before I secure the legs under the tabletop, I want to install a 1/2’’-diameter rare-earth magnet on each foot. I could use epoxy, but I rather use a cup, which is reversible.

À la perceuse à colonne, j’utilise un foret Forstner pour obtenir un trou à fond plat.

At the drill press, I’m using a Forstner bit to get a flat bottom hole.

Pour pouvoir retirer l’aimant de sa coupe (pensons réversible), il faut faire une entaille avec une scie à métaux afin d’y glisser une fine pointe pour sortir l’aimant.

To be able to remove the magnet from its cup (think reversible), a slot has to be made with a hacksaw so you can slip in a fine tip to pop out the magnet.

J’aligne le pied et le plateau en utilisant deux équerres, comme montré.

I align the foot and the tabletop using two squares, as shown.

Pour déterminer facilement où percer les avant-trous pour les vis, je vais utiliser mon gabarit pour clouer et visser à l’aveugle.

To easily locate where to predrill for the screws, I’ll be using my bling nailing and screwing jig.

Je glisse le gabarit sur le plateau et j’appui la languette inférieure sur la patte, comme montré. Ainsi, la languette supérieure montre l’emplacement exact du bord de la patte.

I slip the jig on the tabletop and I hold the lower tong againt the leg, as shown. Doing so, the upper tong shows the exact location of the leg.

Je peux ainsi facilement placer mes repères vis-à-vis le centre de la patte.

Doing so, I can easily locate my marks in line with the center of the leg.

Après un filet de colle et trois vis dans chaque patte.

After a bead of glue and three screws in each leg.
