Je suis souvent inspiré par les projets réalisés par des bricoleurs comme moi. Lorsque je visite les forums ou galeries sur le web j’y trouve toujours de l’inspiration.

J’avais l’habitude de télécharger les photos intéressantes et les garder pour référence future. L’inconvénient était que la plupart du temps je ne me rappelais pas des détails décrits par les auteurs. J’avais donc à figurer uniquement que sur ce que je voyais sur les photos sauvegardées.

Récemment j’en suis venu à l’idée d’ajouter sur chaque photo tous les détails que je ne pourrais mémoriser.

I’m often inspired by projects made by other hobbyist woodworkers like me. When I visit forums and galleries on the web I always find good inspirations.

I used to download inspiring pictures and keep them for future references. The downside was that most of the time I couldn’t remember the details described by the authors. I had to guess on what I was seeing on the pictures I saved.

Recently I came up with the idea of adding to the pictures all the required details I would need and couldn’t remember.

Voici comment je procède.

Here’s how I proceed:

1- J’enregistre la photo sur le bureau de mon ordinateur (pensez Windows).

1- I save the picture on the desktop of my computer (think Windows).

2- J’ouvre le logiciel MS Paint (fourni et gratuit avec Windows) ainsi que la photo préalablement enregistrée, tel que montré.

2- I load the MS Paint software (supplied and free with Windows) and the previously saved picture, as shown.

3- Tel qu’encerclé sur la photo précédente, j’utilise le petit carré localisé au centre du bord inférieur de la photo pour agrandir cette partie inférieur pour avoir de l’espace pour du texte.

3- As circled on the previous photo, using the tiny square located at the centre of the bottom edge of the photo, I enlarge the bottom to make room for some text.

4- Ensuite je retourne à la page web pour sélectionner et copier le texte. De retour dans MS Paint, je colle le texte dans l’espace dédié de ma photo en utilisant le bouton ‘A’ de la fonction du texte (encerclé) de la barre d’outils de gauche de MS Paint. L’espace doit être déterminé juste avant de coller.

4- Then I get back to the web page to select and copy the text. Back in MS Paint, I paste the text in the previously enlarged area of my picture using the ‘A’ text button (circled) on the left side MS Paint tool bar. You must set the area just before pasting.

5- Finalement, si requis je rétrécis l’espace du texte et j’enregistre cette nouvelle photo descriptive au format et sous  le nom désiré.

5- Finally, if needed I shorten the text area and save the newly described photo under the desired format and file name.

Tel que montré sur ces deux exemples, j’ai les photos et tous les détails requis à ma disposition pour ramener à la vie mes projets d’inspiration. Ne sommes-vous pas dans une ère technologique ?

As shown on these two samples, I have the photos and all the details I will need when ready to bring to life my inspired projects. Aren’t we in a technology era ?
