Using twist drill bits is a tip that have been around for years to set fences of cutting, drilling and routing tools. Unfortunately, because they’re round, they can’t be used side by side with a cutting edge for proper height adjustments.

I came up with clever ways to use them often in this manner.
The faster way: Drop a twist drill bit few inches away from the cutting tool, cap both with a straight wood stick and adjust the height of the cutting tool until the stick is parallel to the tabletop.

Une méthode plus précise: Déposez un foret identique de chaque côté du fer, tel que montré, réglez le fer à toupie de façon à ce qu’il soit plus haut que les forets et placez un tasseau sur un des forets et sur le fer à toupie.
A more precise way: Drop identical twist drill bits, one on either side of the cutting tool, as shown, set the cutting tool higher than the drill bits and place a straight wood stick on one bit and the cutting tool.

Lower the cutting tool until the other end of the stick touches the second drill bit. That’s it !
